This weekend we decided to head to Hawk’s Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida. Its about a 3 hr drive from home so we arrived around 4pm.
Our room is a 2 bedroom villa with a view of the ocean, full kitchen, and a nice outside deck. After unpacking we headed to the hotel’s main area and since there was still plenty of sun, I grabbed some towels and we installed ourselves under a tiki lagoon side.
There hotel also features the Dolphin Connection where you can swim with dolphins or play with them dockside for a “small” fee, of course.
The restaurants in the hotel are overpriced, but there are plenty of really good options if you want to venture out of the property. We did, except for breakfast the first morning, (we learned our lesson) and pool side snacks. The beach bar features a “Malibu Rum Bucket”. For $20 you get your choice of 4 different Malibu Rum based drinks in a souvenir bucket. It felt like the equivalent of at least 3 drinks, so I think its well worth the money, plus the drinks are delicious!
Overall I would recommend this hotel. If relaxing is what you are looking for, you will certainly find it here, no need to get up from your beach chair to get drinks or food, the servers will do that for you!
